Which eye do use when you look at people?

1. Grab a friend or a lover and sit or lay opposite each other.

2. Practice staring from left eye to left eye (both eyes open)
Have one person send energy and the other receives, then switch.

3. Observe if one person is “stronger” or not. Then switch; using right eye to right eye.

Is there a different quality in the right side or the left?

Yoga suggests the right side is the outgoing, masculine, solar, and possibly aggressive side, whereas the left is the passive, lunar, and feminine side.

Shiang Ying and I have been practicing this and it’s yielded interesting results. I noticed that she could completely overpower me, that her energy was super strong. She observed that my right eye was “asleep” compared to my left.

So I spent the next several days, opening up my right eye by using it more. Feels like the muscles inside the skull were weak and that the opening with attention created a kind of energy flow that wasn’t there previously. It’s very odd. I think that perceiving through the right side and perceiving through the left side is a different experience.

Have you noticed that people address one eye more than another? Do you do the same to others? Why does my secretary talk to my right eye more than my left? When facing someone, the right eye sends out and the left receives. Can we communicate to different parts of the psyche through different eyes?

Do you think about these things? I didn’t before this. Yoga suggests we are like an onion, where we penetrate our awareness through layers, only to find another blind spot. After working with the body for so long, I have become sensitive to the body alignment, and energy way more than before. Before I used to be a sphere of awareness atop a body I dragged around.

Look at your nose. Do you see both sides equally? If not, why not? It used to be imbalanced for me until I worked at it, now I can see both sides the same. So it must be now for the eyes.

We started to test our friends. Aside from making for interesting conversation, it also dissolved some barriers with one friend.

Here’s what was really interesting though: each person had a different quality in the right and the left. Here’s a very unscientific tally of results so far:

woman #1: staring in right eye and she looks masculine and it feels aggressive. Left eye feels neutral
man #1: staring in right eye and we see a kind of  devilish nature, a scoundrel. Left eye feels kind and gentle
man #2: staring in right eye and we see sadness, left eye is strong, intimidating and aggressive.

Mind you, we’ve had to wait to meet with odd people who would be up for this kind of thing, which, thankfully most of my friends are.

Above is a picture of my eyeball, I just took it… I think it’s pretty.
PS: I want to know what your results are if you test this!
